CA SENATE PASSES CANNABIS EVENT BILL

Josh Levine |

The California Senate passed the third reading of AB-2020 by a vote of 29 Yes and 9 No.  The bill allows local jurisdictions to approve state temporary licenses for cannabis events.  The bill is similar to the state temporary event rules adopted by the Bureau of Cannabis Control, which limits cannabis sales by only licensed vendors that are reported to the Bureau before the event. The Bureau may immediately stop the event if public safety is at risk or if an unlicensed vendor is not expelled immediately.  Fines for violations can be up to three times the state temporary event license fee.
