The California Assembly approved SB-1127 Pupil health: administration of medicinal cannabis: schoolsites or Jojo’s Act by a vote of 42 Yes to 29 No. The Assembly reconsidered the bill after it failed to pass on August 23rd. The bill would allow school districts to adopt a policy that permits a parent or guardian of a child in grades 1 – 12, who has a right to receive medical marijuana, to possess and administer medical marijuana on school grounds, excluding smokeable or tapeable forms. The school district or other governing body could rescind the policy at any time. The student’s records would be confidential and not open to public inspection unless required by state or federal court.
