Yesterday, the New Jersey Legislature approved a bill that decriminalizes the cultivation of industrial hemp, and helps the local economy by providing local farmers with a hot new crop. The bill directs the Department of Agriculture to create a pilot program for the cultivation of industrial hemp. New Jersey is following the lead of other states including Delaware, California and Michigan on relying on a federal research law to expand the cultivation of industrial hemp.
